Q: my boyfriend and i have been in a relationship for 4 years .. i knew that he was depressed .. but as

he often gets agitated and irritated over very little things , often to where he threatens to commit suicide .

 

he has everyday habits that he has to do , or he feels not complete .

 

he has a hard time with past relationships .

 

he gets very embarrassed over the littlest things .

 

he wont get help, because he thinks that he will look bad, or he can take control of it himself.

 

he is often very demanding and controlling, also selfish.

Britt, I think your boyfriend really needs to get some help.  It sounds like he has more than just depression going on, like maybe OCD, for one.  Guys tend to be reluctant to get help, but if he doesn't, there is nothing you can do that will "cure" him.  Maybe offer to go with him to an initial visit to a psychologist for an evaluation, as maybe he'll feel less embarrassed by it.  It might be time for a little "tough love" on your part, for the sake of your relationship, as well as his own mental health.  If you need any resources for finding help, just let us know.  In the meantime, take good care of yourself and write again any time.  We are here to listen.
