Can you elaborate a bit? Is your child's doctor suggesting Celexa?

 

Just in general, with children it's advisable to use therapy initially for treating depression, except - and this is important - in cases of severe depression or if the child is suicidal. But there are still a lot of unanswered questions about the impact of antidepressants on a child's development, so a good child psychiatrist should not suggest an antidepressant right off the bat, unless, as I said, the child is severely depressed.
