It seems to me you have answered your own question, " I suffer from depression with suicidal thoughts"  thats a pretty good decription of your problem isnt it? Medical names wont change things too much, just insurance people of other doctors will have much interest in these names.    It takes some time to fit the right medication and dose to each person plus it takes 4 to 6 weeks for them to work. It takes some patience but most psychiatrists will find the best combination of meds for you. Taking 3 or 4 isnt much, there are many now and combinations.   I have depressed periods like you, I dont usually know there coming but I have learned to notice a few things that may trigger these periods such as too much stress, too little sleep, missing taking meds or missing /skipping meals and blood sugar drops-worst depressive symptoms i have.  So try to notice anything in common next time your mood drops, maybe you can work your way out of it    Also if you dont think your doctor is listening, stop what you are saying and ask him, "are you listening to me"??  Its your time and money, you dont have to be nice
