Q: why is depression an important public health issues?

i just interested to know more about depression reality to public health issues. the reason why i say that at this day a lot of people get depressed one or others reason and how to this reality to public health issues. if you give some information about it will help.

Hi, I'm not an expert, but I think depression is an important public health issue because it does affect so many people in far-reaching ways - in their relationships, how they perform at work and even their physical health.  Depressed people tend to call in sick more often, so that costs either them or their employer money in lost productivity and pay.
