Q: can fluoxetine be taken with hydroxycut to help boost weight loss.

can fluoxetine be taken with hydroxycut to help boost weight loss.  i have been on it for almost two years, and have gained 25 lbs.  it helps with my PPMD, but being heavier is not making me very happy.  i do realize that I have to adjust my diet and exercise more as well.

Hi Heather

Have you talked with your doctor about your weight gain?  Is there any possibility that your medication is not to blame for the weight gain?

Diet and exercise will definitely help.  I am not sure about Hydroxycut.  I have never used it myself nor am I a doctor.

But in researching your question I have found where others have asked this very question and it seems that it is discouraged to take Prozac and hydroxycut together.

Here is the link for you to read for yourself.

I would strongly suggest that you ask your doctor for advice on this.  You don't want to experience adverse effects unecessarily.

Thank you for your question.

Taking these two medications together has listed complications. Even if they didn't, you would need to ask your doctor this question. There are factors to be considered in addition to these two medications -- any health issues/conditions you may have, and ALL other medications you are taking including prescription medications, over-the-counter medications, dietary supplements, etc.

Good luck,

Teri

I have been taking Alli along with my other meds. Dr. said to try it and that it would not affect other medication. It has seemed to help but still too early to tell. I have lost 7 pounds but it has taken a month and a half. I follow the low fat diet and am working slowly toward more exercise. If I were you I would stop the hydroxycut and try Alli or just try a better eating program along with exercise. I have to lose about 30 pounds so we are in the same boat so to speak. Good luck to you, I know just how you feel.

I hope you know by now that hydroxycut has been recalled, it is dangerous! Do not take any more and get checked out, please! Sandy Reply
