Hi there

This is an excellent question for your doctor or pharmacist.

Problems urinating seems to be a serious enough side effect to warrant asking your doctor for a change of meds.  But the thing is...you want to make sure that your urinary problem is actually a side effect and not being caused by some other medical condition.  In other words...you really need to see your doctor.

Here is an article about Tramadol on our Chronic Pain site.  This article talks about another drug called Nucynta as a substitute.

Please know that I am not a doctor nor do I know anything about these particular medications.

I would suggest calling your doctor and also maybe visit our Chronic Pain site and you can ask your question there.

Thank you for your question.
