I just took my 15 year old son off of Celexa 10 mg.  He was on this for the past 3.5 years because of depression & anxiety.  I'm noticing, since he's been off it for 8 weeks, he is quick to get angry and very combative.  Should he go back on the medication or is there another one that may be better?

he needed to be weaned off it slowly and yes he may need to go back on it or try some different medicine. has he been checked for bi-polar disorder? i'm no authority but i'm-bipolar and my 13 yr.old is too and also adhd, it kinda sounds like the same symptons we experience.

I'm on Celexa (Citalopram) for anxiety and depression associated with PTSD. Anger and confrontational behavior was part of my problem but the medicine seems to help. Other medicines might work better, but knowing which requires a lot more education and experience than I have. Hopefully he's getting some good counseling. I would try to get his counselor and psychiatrist (prescribing doctor) working together on this.
