Q: Time it takes for antidepressant to show results when going up on dosage?

When the dosage of zoloft is increased, how long does it take to notice any improvement? Days? Weeks?

Hi, Ann.  I would say it could take weeks to notice a difference, just as it could when you first start taking any antidepressant.  Your doctor would be the best judge of how long to expect it to take.  I tried it once, with Wellbutrin, and within two days, I felt as numb as a block of ice, which was NOT the purpose of taking it, but my doc told me it wasn't common to react that quickly to it.  Everyone's different.  You might need a little patience!

Thanks, Judy,

I'm sensitive to meds, too, so I think I will hopefully notice some improvement sooner rather than later. It has already helped my anxiety , which is a blessing as I have general anxiety disorder, also, and try to stay away from the sedative-type medications that are addictive. I appreciate your insight and sharing. Ann
