Hi Gina,   Prozac comes with something of a patchy history regarding its uses. It certainly has been studied for its potential in the treatment of obesity but weight loss is inconsistent during clinical trials. Because prozac has the effect of raising basal body temperature some weight loss during clinical trials has been seen. In a long clinical trial (over a year) comparing a control group with a group using prozac, no difference in weight loss was seen between the two groups.*   The FDA has not approved fluoxetine (prozac) for use in weight loss.   * Goldstein DJ, Rampey AH, Enas GG, Potvin JH, Fludzinski LA, Levine LR.
