From what we've heard people on this site say about Effexor, there may be withdrawal symptoms for quite some time - six days doesn't seem very long, but we're not doctors here.  The Wellbutrin may work well for him - time will tell.  This is a starting dose and there is room to increase it, if needed - up to 450 mg.  I'm on it myself.  He'll have to be patient and give it some time to see if it works for him.  This is a different type of drug from Effexor and I'm sure his doctor will be monitoring him closely for a while to see how he does on it.  It's not uncommon to have to switch or add medications and hopefully, this will work for him.
