Q: I had neuropsych esting that showed mild cognitive impairment. The debate is it from bipolar???

My long term disability insurance company wants to claim it is from bipolar so they will not have to pay past my 24 mental health rider.  My neurologist didn't say that, he places me on permanent disability.  I see the pdoc next week & I'll ask her about it.  I don't think bipolar caused the impairment.  I have been dx since 1999 but have had symptoms od bipolar since I was 17 and I am 48 now.  The cognitive problems have been really noticeable the past year.

Its really scary when you cant remember things and no one wants to take neuropsych test!  The doc who gave me the test said the next step up was alheimers.  He did not say what caused the impairment, so I better call him this week.

Could you experts out there tell me if bipolar causes cognitive impairment & I know there has to be other causes.  I have B12 deficiency & my neuro said that was untreated for a long time & can affect your memory.  HELP!!!

I just read your posting and cant remember what it said!@#$%

Anyway from reading a lot of stuff on the internet I found that vit B defiecency can cause impairment. You should be taking a super B vitamin anyway.

From experiencing antidepressants I would say thay they can cause it.

Alzhiemers go there last.
