In reviewing the literature on-line it seems that weight gain is a possible side effect for some people while taking this medication. Here is a Medical News Today forum where patients have posted about the weight gain issue. The SSRIs are noted for the potential side effect of weight gain.
Is this something you can ask your doctor about? There are antidepressants which don't have as high a risk for weight gain. Wellbutrin comes to mind but some people do gain weight while taking this antidepressant too. Everyone will react differently.
