Q: My wife has very strong headache for more than three weeks???

My wife has a very strong headache for more than three weeks. We checked with Dr. for eyes, ears, nose& thorax (E.N.T) and finally with Neourolgest and all of them assured us that she hasn't any problem (each in his area)?? what specilization else we may refer to? and whether it has bad impact on brain if the person has headache for such long time? Now we have a son he is three months old, we breast feed him. She delivered naturally, and she has a small stone in her Gallbladder. She is 26 years old. I do not know whether if any of these criteria could cause such extreme headache ?

Also, she dose not sleep very well but also not so bad, about feeding, she eats whenever she feels hungry but she dose not have three regular strong meals in the day.

Thanks in advance.

I do appreciate your help

There are both "migraines" and "cluster headaches," both of which can cause excruciating pain.  My dad had terrible migraines.  My sister has them now, too.  Hers are related to hormones -- you might have her ask her gynecologist/OB to check on her hormone levels expecially since she recently gave birth.  There are some medicines that can be taken to prevent migraines and cluster headaches, like Sumatriptan.  But they must be taken every day and I don't know if they are excreted in breast milk, something she would have to be careful about.  Sumatriptan helps my nephew be almost migraine-free, when he used to have them all the time.

Best wishes.  Let us know if you find out what the problem is.  A mother certainly doesn't need any more headaches than those already caused by caring for a newborn.

Dear Donna;

   I do appreciate your advice and I think it may help to find out the cause for such headache.

And wish for you and all your beloved person the good health.

Thanks;

Of course, it could be something totally different than migraines or the cluster headaches or even hormones.  Keep asking for more testing to be done so she can find out what to do to get relief.
