I am looking to write a short story that includes several fictional journal entries throughout history that chronicle the experiences of several women and the social conditions and treatments for their mental illnesses, so any resources or primary sources would be appreciated.

Some of the time periods that I'm thinking of doing:

The late 1600s, think Salem witch trials

The 1800s

The 1920s/1930s

The 1960s

Any information would be SO incredibly helpful.  Thanks

Hello Amanda7,

Sorry about the delay in getting back to you. I assume you have already wrote the story. But if you are still interested in the subject you might try reading The Yellow Wallpaper, by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. It is a short story about a woman with depression who in the 1800's. I hope you enjoy it.
