I know that I need help but I won't go to any doctors here because they just pump you full of drugs until you just CAN'T feel.  Sometimes they will lock you up for a few days and put you on even more drugs.  Obviously that didn't help last time they did it, so I am looking for a real solution.  I just cannot live this way anymore!!

Hey Bambi

Sounds like you have had it with the medical system and drug treatments.  How bad is your depression currently?

Try to remember a time when you felt well or at least better than you do now.  What helped you during that time?  Does talking to someone help at all?

There are no easy fixes and I am sure you already know that.  Sometimes just surviving the day or this moment is the goal.  I have felt so bad at times that I thought I couldn't stand another minute but then the minute passes and somehow you get through.

What is the worst part of your depression right now?  Perhaps we can brainstorm about things you can try.

Please hang in there.  Keep writing and reaching out.  You are not alone.

Wow...almost a year can make a big difference.  Thank you for your reply, however I do not believe in "depression" anymore.  I would like to direct anyone reading this from the point I was at in January to take up meditation.  Research spirituality and yourself.  Journal, ask yourself why you are the way you are.  The questions can be hard but it is this self development that people in society today are lacking.  The answer to everything is love, and it is inside you.

No, they don't.  Drugs only mask the problem.  Try asking you "Doctor" how they "work".

Hello! friendly chemist here! Drugs are not terrible and obviously they are going to pump you full of drugs if you are thrown into the hospital (assuming you were locked up for being well for lack of better words, crazy). They just wanted to calm you down so they could reason with you. When I was not on anti depressents NO ONE could reason with me. I wouldn't talk to anyone or even look at anyone until I made that decision one day that I could not stand being miserable anymore. So after many many different anti depressents I found a few that worked although not perfectly. But this gave me enough energy to deal with things and work on the non drug part. For example excersize and therapy. The drugs that make you not feel are drugs such as mood stabilizers which are basically designed to make your not react so much to emotional type situations. This can be good or bad. It is good when you cannot handle your ups and downs and they are very extreme. This can be bad if you find you are more just depressed all the time and never actually happy. Then you should probably focus on an anti depressant for awhile until you can control your own depression through other ways.

It is obvious to me (now) that you know the true answers for your "problem" but are not able to handle the truths in yourself as of this post.  Drugs, like you said, are a cop out.  People need to handle their emotions without drugs.  Drugs kill.

The real solution is you, not meds, not doctors, but the way you view the World around you. The problem may be in your head, but women (not men) use both sides of their brain. One side can take over for another. Just think about all the hadicaped by stroke men you have seen compared to the few number of women. Regardless,

You can do it yourself! I have been to the best doctors in the World. All they did was take my money, and tell me their problems. I finally met a College Student who turned me on to Drs. Beck and Ellis. I visited Dr. Beck at Villanova, where he was teaching, and he gave me his book on Rational Emotive Therapy free. Imagine that, free. And, no drugs either. The basic theory is to ask yourself if the feared event happened, so what? What would the consequeces be. Would you be dead? No. So, just accept it, laugh about it, and move on with you wounderful future life.

Thank you for this reply, friend!  Forsooth, EVERYTHING is in our heads.  If you are here, you are evolving and on a higher vibrational frequency.  I encourage everyone who reads this to look into EFT (tapping) and watch "What the bleep do we know?", a movie about quantum physics and the effects of the mirco and macro universes on each other.  Everything is made of possibilities, society has brainwashed the masses into depression by giving a limited set of options.  Here's something for everyone to think on: forget about money!  That's right!  Do the research if you must, but you can believe me that it hasn't always been around and we would all be much better off without it.  I encourage all here to become self sufficient.  NO FLU SHOTS.  Eat well, exercise and LOVE LOVE LOVE.  Worry not, for worry is the only cause of aging and death.  Blessed be!
