I take  pristiq and an ada med redllin, Tried deplin with it seemed to never get enough sleep, Now I tried just deplin with redelin and am sharp as a tack. Could Deplin by itself work for some?

Hi Mitchel

I do not know...this is a good question.  Did you quit taking Prestiq cold turkey or...with your doctor's knowledge?

I try to do the natural route to treat my depression and folate and B12 vitamins...as well as fish oil have been reported in the literature to help with mood.

Thanks for sharing this...let us know if this combination continues to work for you.

Thanks so much for the response I think it's so caring to use your valuable time for others

I am giving most of my whole story in case someone else might find similarity in their own issues.

My Mother had depression (Lithium and mental hospitals in the old days) and I guess It's in my genes. I was never quite (with-it) as I call it (normal for the psycholgists) for most of my life. always teased etc. At 45 I finally went for help. I've takin All the different meds for Depression, and they all worked for a while then they would became ineffective.  Prozac was the first at age 45 and life was fantastic. I felt the effects of the Prozac 2 hrs after I first took it! For 2 years, I was witty, and creative and talanted in every area (not manic).  It's effect finally wore off and so I tried all the others until only effexor was the main Med that would worked on and off for about 5 yrs. It Caused me to have high blood presure and since I had low platlets I stopped until the platlets came were cured. The last 3 years where effexor and now changed to Pretiq (it's good for Blood Presure) and recently I read about  (retellin) I think it's called, used for attention defficite kids, I tried that just to see if maybe I had always had ADA. Nothing changed, Then I read about Deplin with effexor. My Doc gave me all three for a trial. It's been about 2 months and this combo made me so sleepy that I could never get enough sleep. I havn't had 5 great days in 5 years. I ran out of my effexor accidently so I just tried the Deplin with the ADA med and Bam! I was back to my old game. So far I've had 5 great days, but not manic. I have been disapointed for the last 20yrs since all my meds seem to lose effectivness after a time. I hope I'm on to something by luck. Maybe I am a rare case of having really a low folate disorder. The ADA gives me some energy, with the mental clearity, I tried the ADA by itself too and only felt slightly naseuated, no improvment.

On a tangent, If someone know how I could be a research subject so they could scan my brain activity to see what changes in the brain changed with different Meds. When a Med works for me I can tell the difference in 1 Day, I'm sensitive to my mental mood and whether I am depressed because I play guitar and can be very creative with humor when I am (with-it). I miss the good old days of not being depressed, maybe I pray this one will last, On the other hand what choice do I have! I'm 58 with 4 kids (twin 7yr. olds) 12, and 15 yr. old. I need a good day just to keep up.

If you are treating yourself with the natural folate and B -12 I belive this Deplin is natural but as in the original post kicks butt when it comes to converting of helping the seritonin type chemicals do their stuff, . It is inexpensive too.

PS Please excuse the grammar and no spell check that I could find.
