Hey CJ
I hear ya. Happiness and feeling "normal" sure does seem elusive and especially when you are doing so much to help yourself as in going to therapy and taking antidepressants. While I am not a psychologist or a psychiatrist, I am a fellow depressive and I have been there when it just seems nothing is working very well. But when I take stock of little changes I realize that I am progressing, just not at the speed I would like.
Sometimes with therapy especially, things get worse before they get better. It may be necessary to go through some emotional turbulence before you get to feeling better. Yet it is also possible too that in time you may question the effectiveness of your particular therapist or method of therapy. Only you can determine when and if you would want to make a change. I would say hang in there and give it more of a chance. Be specific about your needs and what you wish to achieve from going to therapy. Discuss these goals with your therapist.
As far as the antidepressants go, I can't really comment as I don't know how long you have been on them or what you are taking. If they are not working out, please do see your doctor to address your concerns.
I really hope you start to feel a little better soon. Please let us know how you are doing in time.
