Q: I presently take Effexor XR 225mg. once daily. My doctor wants me to change to Wellbutrin.

Can I just Immediately stop the effexor and go right to taking the Wellbutrin, or do I need to come off effexor gradually?

I'm not a doctor but I do know a little something about both drugs.  You do NOT want to suddenly stop the Effexor because there are some bad side effects from doing that.  You should work with your doctor on a withdrawal plan and he/she may or may not have you start with the Wellbutrin before you're done with the Effexor.  If your doctor mentioned changing medications to you, I'm kind of wondering why he/she didn't talk about how to do this with you.

I hope you'll talk to your doctor right away before doing anything and hope this was of some help.
