Q: Is Depakote 500mg and Abilify 5mg a day a good treatment plan?

My 8 year old is 100lbs and has been on risperdal, abilify 10mg, and then recently put on the depakote 500mg with Abilify 5mg a day. I am concerned that he has 2 mood stabilizers and he is still showing signs of not only agression but hopelessness? Should he be on one or the other or should be be on a depressant as well or in lieu of one of stabilizers?

Almost sounds like there trying to discover what will work for him. First off dont be afraid to ask the doctor questions. If the doctor doesnt make you feel confident then I would consider a second opinion

If you are feeling concerned about any treatment you should seek a second opinion from a different doctor. We had alot of problems with my stepson when he was around that age and this doctor with a god complex kept adding meds.

Good luck,

Pat

How many hours per night is your child sleeping?  Have you done a sleep study?
