Q: Hi I have a job interview monday any advice on how to keep anxiety under control?

Hi I have been suffering with anxiety and depression for many years. I am down to taking wellbutrin 300xl once daily and klonopin up to 1mg daily. I also talk with a therapist. I have been laid off for five months.I was in management but ended up being a workaholic. My routine was work, eat sleep.I have a job interview monday at 3pm.It is a management position in a much more relaxed atmosphere.100 people applied for the job and they narrowed it down to three.Any advice on how to decrease the anxiety of the interview? They have all the managers approx 10 ask you one question each. Then you sit down alone with the hiring manager. How would you advise me to lower my anxiety before the interview and during it? Self talk helps sometimes.I am nervous around new people and sometimes mess up my words. My therapist suggested taking 1/2 A klonopin 0.5mg.This amount I can hardly feel but I would rather take nothing.Any Advice would be helpful Thanks for all your help

Hi everybody the interview went very well.I sailed through all the questions and felt less anxious as time went by. I did not even take a klonopin and it was ok. I will find out in a few days If I have the job or go back for a second interview. If I do not get the job I will not be hard on myself it will be there loss. I realize that even though the economy is bad you have to take care of your needs also. So I wIll not get back into the pattern of work, sleep, eat on and on with no life.I will let you all know how things turn out. Thanks for all your help

I do hope you get the job!  But you have a great attitude about how you will handle it if you don't get it.  There will always be new opportunities.  I think you should feel very proud of yourself!

Hi Hope, Congrates on making it this far.  If I were in your shoes, for me, I would first of all put it out of my mind.  Get a good nights rest.  Approach the interview like you would if you already have the job.  Show confidence.  My gandfather told me long time ago, he s, when I use to get nervous when I had to sing in front of the church.  He told me to imagine that I was singing in front of a garden, carrots, potatoes, corn, and peas, and just sing like to body's business, and it worked.  But now you have to talok to these people, they put their pants on just like you do, they breath the saame air as you, they are just like you.  Show them that you are confidant, that you are sure of yourself, that you know your stuff.  Be calm, just breath.  It will work out, do not worry about anything, just be you!  sherry/smomdkesKiss  Keep us posted

The best thing to do is to let them know upfront that you are nervous because you really want this job. Learn as much as you can about the company before you walk in there. Impress them. I have to admit that sometimes I will take a couple of tylenol to settle me down sometimes. I too have been laid off for months and start a new job tomorrow. I think the only reason Im not climbing out of skin is because I am going in at a lower  position than I was before. Also one Im experienced at. So I get to show off.

Please Let us know how it goes good or bad were routing for you!
