Q: Can Prestiq cause abdominal pain?

Can Prestiq cause abdominal cramping.  Ive been on it for about 2 or 3 months and have some mild side effects, sweating and dry mouth, but the abdominal pain is very bothersome, Ive been to a urologist and he saw nothing wrong, so I wondered if it might be the Prestiq, since this is the only new med I'm on.

Hey BJ...

First of all I want to state that I am not a doctor nor have I ever used this drug myself.

Have you asked your therapist or doctor who prescribed you this medicine...if it is possible that it is causing your abdominal pain?

I did some research for you and here is the official Prestiq site.  On the site they state some of the side effects one can experience while taking this drug and they include:  "...nausea, dizziness, sweating, constipation, and decreased appetite."  So it does seem it can cause some stomach problems.

And here is a very interesting thread with many people discussing their experience taking this drug.  There are quite a few who talk about having stomach issues.  You can find this discussion here.

Your stomach pain could be anything...depending upon where the pain is located but it does seem possible that the Prestiq could be causing it.  I would definitely ask the doctor who prescribed this drug to you about your concerns.

Thank you so much for your question.

Hi,

why did you go to a urologist?  I just started taking Prestiq, and have had abdominal discomfort and the increased need to urinate-it just started when I started the Prestiq.  I am wondering if the same thing is happening to you.  I am thinking about changing medicine.  Thank you.
