Hi there

Just wanted to give you another resource.  There is a 2-1-1 information and referral source which can help you to possibly find help for housing and other things.

Keep calling places to get you some help.  There must be a way.

Let us know if you do or do not find help.  We will keep researching for you.

Pepsi, you are in a really tough situation and I'm so sorry it's happening.  Have you tried calling someone in Legal Aid in your county?  Or perhaps talk to a social worker in your county human services area.  Your husband can't just divorce you and leave you with nothing, he'll be required to provide some sort of alimony if you can't work and it's possible that you might even get more disability income without his income in the picture.  I think it's your county that can start helping you.  When there's a divorce, there are legal agreements made about money and possessions - it doesn't all belong to him.

It's too bad that your husband can't be there for you but even if he was, he probably couldn't really "be there" emotionally for you, anyway.  I hope you will try calling your county to see what help you might be able to get and a lawyer would be good, as well.  I wish you all the best and hope you'll let us know how you're doing.

Hi Judy:

Thank you for the information...I am seeing a new therapist ( need one due to the gang rape). I was seeing my old therapist for 10 years....neither therapist had any names for social workers. My husband controls all the money...I am not allowed to write a check or charge anything....how do I get the money I need for an attorney incase he decides to kick me to the curbe (so to speak)

Again thank you for you support

Pepsi, your county social services department should be able to tell you how to get legal aid and advise you as to what to do.  It's not right that you can't get any money you need.  Even if everything is in his name, should he divorce you, you still have a right to something (depending on which state you live in).  Perhaps your therapist can help you talk to someone in social services - most have experience with helping people in this way.  You would be assigned a social worker if you called the county, I don't think you can ask for a particular person, anyway.  If you don't have any luck with any of this, let us know and we can do some further checking.  Hang in there!
