Is it normal to have an extreme reaction to something and then feel exhaused after having vented?

Lee

There are times when I feel extremely overwhelmed and cannot figure out how I am going to do everything.  Then somebody says something and I go completely off the deep end, saying things like:  you are attacking me, you are being critical of everything I do, what can I do to make you happy etc.  After venting to this person, I am completely exhausted.  My feelings are of relief and also, of wondering what did I just say or do? Once I remember what I said I am very upset about what I said.
