Changed from Lexapro to Celexa - how long to start working?

Shannon

Until yesterday, I have been taking Lexapro 20mg for months due to GAD. Yesterday I began taking Celexa 40mg instead of the Lexapro (to better control the anxiety attacks which mimic a heart attack). How soon should I see improvement?

Hello Shannon

We have information here on Health Central about Celexa which you may read here.

Specifically they say:

"It may take 1 to 2 weeks to feel a benefit from this drug and 4 weeks to feel the full benefit of this medication. Tell your doctor if your condition persists or worsens."

I hope this helps some!
