I am trying to get off Seroquel 100mg and having a dificult time. My Docs. want me off it because it has raised my sugar levels to Pre-Diab. levels. I exercise (walk 5 miles 4 times a week and go to the gym) watch my diet and weight.  I was told by my Doc's to take it at night for the insomnia I was having. I also take in the AM Lexapro and Adderal for the type of Depression I have. My problem is every time I go off the Seroquel I can not sleep and I end up more depressed within 3 days. Wondered if you might have any suggestions. I tried taking 2 different prescription sleeping meds but I had an alergic reaction to both. Thanks so much! ackesea

First, I admire your diet and exercise regimen! Wish it put you out like a light.

There is a list of prescription sleep medications at MySleepCentral.com and some information on Insomnia

Only your doctor can really advise what else to try and the risks and side effects involved. I'm curious what the two medications were and what kind of reaction you had. I'm sorry you are having such trouble. I always had trouble staying asleep, often waking ten or more times a night and long ago my doctor put me on a small dose of Elavil which helped me stay asleep. I used that a long time.

I've tried Ambien CR lately and it knocks me out fast but from what I read it often becomes a dependency, plus, I only get about five hours sleep. I've heard others use Melatonin and Benadryl (gives me a headache) Lunesta, Yoga, on and on.  Sometimes I think, half of depression is due to our lack of sleep.

Because you are taking those other drugs, you really have to work only with your doctor in finding something, even if it is over the counter, they have know before you try something.

Believe me, I wish you good luck.

P.S., I'm just a reader here.., no expertise, just really familiar with the wish for sleep.
