Q: if you have had 1 drink with a small amount of alcohol are you safe to take cymbalta?

I have a family member who is on cymbalta, and I am about to see a Dr. reguarding some depression/perimenopausal/aadd?  (not sure what the diagnosis will be) and  I was curious about the cymbalta.  Is this something I should talk to my doctor about.  I have been diagnosed since 1990 with depression, however the more they learn about the adult attention defecit dissorder and being in a perimenopausal state, these days I am just not completely convinced that it is 100% depression.   I am 52 and feel like I am living a life in hell most times.  I have been drug free for 8 years and struggle severely with mood swings, depression, memory loss (extreme memory loss).  On rare occasion I do have a glass of wine and that is it.  This is why I pose the question.  Does it take a long time for Cymbalta to build in your system?  Will a glass of wine be harmful if you are on the cymbalta.  What other options would you recommend?

Hi there

I am sure this question gets asked a lot...I would definitely recommend asking your doctor about drinking in moderation and taking Cymbalta.

In the meantime here is a good article about what you might expect if you drink alcohol and take Cymbalta...it says you can expect symptoms of depression and that it will affect your motor performance.

I hope this helps some...let us know what happens with your decision.
