Does smoking interfere with depression meds? I get breakthrough depression and somehow think it does

On meds for 20 years, prozac, then Effexor xl for 3 years. Any input available?

Chances are you can find clinical information about this online, but the important thing to you is that you are noticing a difference. Also, everyone reacts differently to medication, so while smoking might not increase depression in one person on meds, it might in another. Our brains are so complicated that there is no one size fits all answer.

 

As I said, if you are seeing a difference, that is what is important to you.
