I feel like I gave a long answer to this question already, so maybe I answered the wrong person.   BUT,  you need a new doctor. .  . and fast.   Tell someone - at a different practice or same --- what is going on.   "first do no harm"  is what the doctors are supposed to live by.   That was harmful.   Make sure its a psychiatrist with decent credentials.  Ask on the phone from your couch if you have to:  how long in practice, specialize in depression or what?, where did he/she go to school, and how much of a "CRISIS" this feel like it is. . . SUICIDAL..get to the hospital.   call 911 or a friend.   Don't let them blow it off.   Don't get ugly.  Just get respectfully insistent that you need help.  If the intake person does the thing about "thinking of suicide...active thoughts?   Plan?"   And if you really need to stay there until you get a doctor to help you...sometimes you have to say something indicating you may have a plan.   If you have a plan....spell it out!!!!!   Your pain is not because you are lazy if in fact you do suffer from depression.   I don't recognize the medicine, but second opinion, fast, seems in order.   Probably hospital admission.

Hi there,

The drug Lovan is Fluoxetine (also sold under the brand name Prozac.) You can read about it here. It is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSSIs) generally prescribed for depression, OCD, anxiety disorders among other things. It specifically states that you are to let your doctor know in the event you exhibit the following:

"Tell the doctor immediately if you notice worsening depression/other psychiatric conditions, unusual behavior changes (including possible suicidal thoughts/attempts), or other mental/mood changes (including new/worsening anxiety, panic attacks, trouble sleeping, irritability, hostile/angry feelings, impulsive actions, severe restlessness, very rapid speech). Be especially watchful for these symptoms when a new antidepressant is started or when the dose is changed."

Since your doctor changed your dosage, it is apparent that it is not working for you and it is the doctor's responsibility to listen to you and not berate you. Get another doctor and when you are back on your feet, lodge a formal complaint about this one.

Take care and please stay in touch!
