It appears that Pfizer is just trying to increase its sales. Let's see other research studies done by someone else than Pfizer before we start using it ourselves.

Q: Why would this site include the Viagra story if the research was done by the Viagra manufacturer

Here's the funding statement from JAMA, "This study was supported by an independent investigator-initiated grant from Pfizer Inc, New York, New York. Pfizer Inc provided sildenafil and matching placebo." The study was designed and initiated by an independent researcher. All Pfizer supplied was the Viagra and placebo tablets.
The vast majority of drug research is funded by the pharmaceutical companies. That doesn't automatically make it biased.
If we didn't report on research funded by the pharma companies, we'd very seldom be able to report anything about drug research.
