Q: I am afraid about my BiPolar and heriditary.

I am 50 years old.  I have 3 children. I have a feeling that one of my 2 sons may have BP. He is 25. I have been worried since he was 17. I am also worried about my other son. He is 20.  My father I believe had BP plus my Grandfather and great Uncles before him. My father killed himself. I have tried. But thank God I was not successful. I am a proud Grammy. My Grandson is so wonderful. That is why I am worried. I hate to think that I have unintentionally done anything to have hurt my beautiful grandson. I have always been worried about my own 3 children. Now I have him to worry about as well. I am not only worried, I am scared for him. Very scared.

Thanks. I hope to hear something.

In my opinion I would say that your worry is unfounded. Did you ask to be bipolar?

There is nothing in the book that says just because you are bipolar that your children/grandchildren will also be bipolar.

Communication and education are the keys to success and expressing your concerns to your children is only a display of love.
