Hi wha87,

Thank you for your question. First, I would like to let you know of our sister website for bipolar disorder, www.bipolarconnect.com. To answer your question, both of these medications are used to treat bipolar disorder, and they are okay to use together. I cannot give you any more information than that really without knowing more information. I don't know your situation and your other medications. Your doctor should know what will work best for you.

Best of luck!

Casey

I'm sure only a professional could answer this.   So you just have to ask your doctor.

Never hesitate to ask,  though, if this is something you think might help.

It just might.

Lamictal has been a good medicine for me, not officially diagnosed as bp, but certainly severe mood swings, mostly on the down side.   I take it as a "mood stabilizer" , antidepressant.   Sometimes I wonder if at the right dose, it might not be the only thing I need.  (I wish, but I believe I do need something more).   ASK a professional.  You will probably get a "trial and error" kind of answer.

I take 160mg of Geodon and 200mg of Lamictal once a day and my symptoms have been under control for a year and a half. Neither of these drugs cause weight gain which is a great thing, because I've heard horror stories about some of the other drugs frequently prescribed for bipolar disorder.
