Hi, Unhappy.  Have you tried therapy?  That is the only way I know how to find out why you're depressed and what the "real" problem is.  Have you tried a lot of different medications?  If not, there have been a lot of new ones and sometimes you need therapy AND medication to get the most benefit.  What kind of doctors have you seen?  Psychiatrists are the most knowledgeable of medications for depression.

Hope this helped some, but let us know if you find something that works.

Ask around, perhaps ask your doctor to recommend a good therapist. Often, it helps a lot to talk to someone you can trust to keep the info confidential. A therapist can often help you find the root of your problems and help you make adjustments in your life that will lift the depression. Therapy sure helped me. My first therapist listened to everything I had to say about my life, from childhood, through an abusive marriage, and having to deal with schizophrenia as well as depression. She was very supportive. Talking about the abuse really helped me. Later I went to a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist who helped me in practical ways, like getting over a fear of traveling alone, and like letting other people control me. I only saw her 6 times and was then able to live alone for the first time in 12 yrs. If you can, try therapy. Reply
