My daughter who is bipolar was given vicodin when she was suicidal It saved her life. Now she did get addicted to it, but the doctor told her how to get off of it very slowly and she did. Being addicited to vicodin is a different problem than just taking it for medical reasons. She keeps some in the house all the time and if she feels depression coming on she takes one. It makes her feel better within a half hour. It's a good drug when used with caution.
