Q: can lexapro cause some type schizophrenia

my name is kendall and i've been taking lexapro for about a month and i've been hearing voises and seeing shadows,this is not my first time taking lexapro and i didn't feel like when i took it at the age of 12 and now that i am 15 and taking lexapro i've been having symptoms of schizphrenia

Hi, Kendall.  I don't think Lexapro is supposed to cause schizophrenia, but I think it's very important to tell your doctor what's going on.  I have had that experience, as well, and I think it was just part of the depression.  Anyway, teenagers need to be especially watchful while on antidepressants because they may affect you differently than they do adults, so please tell your parents or your doctor so they can determine the cause.  Thank you for writing here, hope it helps.
