Q: how does Celexa compare to Lexapro in help with anixtey & depression

Hello, Rick,

 

Celexa is FDA approved for major depressive disorder, but not anxiety. Lexapro is FDA approved for both major depressive disorder and generalized anxiety disorder.

 

On the surface, that would seem to make Lexapro the obvious choice for treating both depression and anxiety. However, that's not necessarily the case for everyone. We don't all react the same way to medications. I've known some people to do quite well with both of these medications for both anxiety and depression as well as some other puprposed for which neither one is FDA approved, specifically the prevention of Migraine.

 

This is one of those cases where personal experience is more telling than anything else.
