    Hi Sue!

My best advice would be to ask this question of your doctor or even call your local pharmacist to see if there are any interactions between these two drugs.

I will point you to some literature I have found to research your question.  First of all...you might want to visit the official site for Chantix which you can find here.  They do state that you need to be aware that Chantix can cause depressive symptoms.  A similar question was asked on Health Central about Champix and you can read the answers here.

Here is a site discussing possible drug interactions which you may find here.

The following site probably has the most interesting information of all.  This is a thread of comments about the use of Chantix and Champix while taking anti-depressants.  You may find this very candid discussion here.

I think anyone who tries to quit smoking has a ton of patience and courage.  My three pack a day mother tried to quit smoking years ago and had some success going to a hypnotist.

I wish you the best of luck.  Do be cautious and ask your doctor or pharmacist first before taking the two drugs together.  Thank you for your question!

Drugs.com has a utility called interaction checker. When you put in the name of the drug it will tell you what drugs wont go with what you are taking. Handy little utility.

You might want to look at the long list for celexa.

It doesnt say anything about chantix. Through experience with chantix. I would say its a one shot deal you have to decide to complete the task, but if you suddenly realize that you are crying. You should stop. It can increase depressive feelings. My doctor asked me to take lexapro(celexa cousin) but I took it with st johns wort and it didnt go well. I recently quit cold turkey for 4 weeks but then had an anxiety attack cause I quit the st johns wort. Almost ready to do it again. They say you truelly only need 3 days of not smoking to get over the hill. It would be a lot better if they just locked us in a room for a week in many different aspects.

Anyway the chantix program seemed to me that it only truelly worked the first time. When I tried it the second time I couldnt tell if it was doing what it was supposed to.

I met a lady that thought that it was ok to take the chantix for months. This is an unnatural chemical attack on the brain. Keep in touch with your doctor while taking it. If you contact the people at chantix they werent much help to me.

    Good luck,

    Pat
