Hi there

 

Yes it seems that in addition to being an antidepressant...Trazodone is also used to help with insomnia.  Here is a good article to explain why.  The author of the linked article has this to say: 

 

"For most people Trazodone works wonderfully well in the very short-term and will certainly help them to fall asleep and also to stay asleep through the night, enjoying, in particular, a greater degree of deep sleep. It is the following morning however when the side effects tend to set in."

 

So it seems with all meds...there are always risks to having side effects.

 

Are you currently taking this medication?  It is probably best to ask your doctor about the details of taking this drug.  He or she can answer your question far better than we can here.
