Q: Cam Wellbutrin cause breakouts?

I have been taking Wellbutrin for approximately 2 weeks, with no side effects. However, recently I began to have an increase in breakouts. I am 59, but have oily skin, and have been on accutane at ages 49 and 56.

Hi JMG:

Actually, there is information about Wellbutrin causing skin problems as a side effect. Allergic-type reactions are not unheard of.  Rashes, pruritusurticaria (hives), angioedema, dyspnea, erythema multiforme (Stevens-Johnson Syndrome), and anaphylactic shock has been associated with bupropion.

But, there may be other factors here that you haven't considered.

Before you do anything, please consult with your doctor (and your dermatologist) if you develop any symptoms that seem unusual.

Best of Luck,

I had taken Wellbutrin for years and had horrible acne breakouts constantly, greasy oilyfacial skin, itchy body skin, slow hair growth and very high anxiety about everything.  I stopped taking it about 4 weeks and all of these symptoms in me are gone.  My skin is beautiful smooth and non oily.  I was told it has something to do with the dopamine levels.  Meth addicts usually have bad acne also.
