Hi Rosie,   This is the depression database so there isn't alot of information here about pneumonia, but you can read about bacterial pneumonia here in the Health Encyclopedia. You can read the full article, but here is a short excerpt: "Bacterial pneumonias tend to be the most serious and, in adults, the most common cause of pneumonia." There are some preventative measures here. I did not see anything that would suggest that bacterial pneumonia was contageous, but it is best to ask your doctor to make sure.
