Scientists have discovered variations in two genes that may help spur suicidal thinking in people taking a common antidepressant. In a recent study, researchers followed 1,915 patients taking the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) Celexa. After analyzing patients' DNA, the scientists found that Celexa users who had variations on two genes were more likely to report suicidal thinking than patients who did not have the variations.
