Researchers say the increased risk of suicidal thoughts and depression found in teenagers who have severe acne appears to be due to the acne itself, and not the medications used to treat it. Previous studies had linked some acne drugs to an increased risk of suicide and mental health issues in teenagers. But in a new study, scientists found that three times as many boys and twice as many girls who had severe acne reported suicidal thoughts than those with little or no acne.
