A new study has found that patients with rheumatic diseases may experience body-image concerns that can lead to depression and anxiety. In a recent study, 30 percent to 50 percent of rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erthyematosus patients reported that they felt unattractive due to changes in their appearance brought on by their disease. Researchers say that the finding may help them target the appearance-related effects of the diseases in order to help ease depression in these patients.
