Depression Sickness

A new study suggests that when caregivers are depressed, sick
children may suffer. Researchers videotaped 100 families who had a
child being treated for asthma. During the video session,
researchers rated the parents on warmth, hostility, and
disciplinary skill. They found that the parents who reported the
most symptoms of depression exhibited lower levels of warmth and
higher levels of hostility in structured tasks than caregivers who
did not suffer from depression.
