Taste tests could help doctors find the right antidepressant

Your taste buds may one day help doctors choose the right antidepressant for you, new research suggests. People's ability to perceive certain tastes is changed by different levels of chemicals in the brain. These chemicals, called neurotransmitters, are thought to be involved in depression. Doctors hope to use taste tests in depressed people to help pinpoint the neurotransmitters causing the patients' depression. This could help doctors choose the antidepressant that will work best.
