A new med that boosts levels of a mood-related chemical in the brain has been shown to relieve symptoms of depression in rats. Italian and American researchers have found that the new drug, URB597, helps the brain maintain high levels of a 'bliss' chemical called anandamide. URB597 is chemically similar to the active ingredient in marijuana, which also boosts anandamide levels in the brain.
