Doctors at the University of Rochester Medical Center are leading a study to see if the antidepressants Paxil (paroxetine) and Effexor (venlafaxine) can help alleviate depression in people with Parkinson's disease. Nearly half of all Parkinson's patients suffer from depression, and this study is the first large placebo-controlled study to see if antidepressants can work in patients with the disease.
