Researchers have found that the most optimistic teens may be less likely to be depressed, to use heavy drugs, or to demonstrate bad behavior than their peers. But the researchers also say that their finding does now show that optimism directly causes adolescents to be less depressed, since other factors could also explain the reduced depression risk.
