Fewer girls given ADHD meds, but use of other meds rising

A study of prescriptions written for children and teens found Type 2 diabetes medication use tripled in girls over the last five years. Researchers also found that prescriptions for depression and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder fell, likely due to drug safety concerns. Other meds that show prescribing increases include antipsychotics such as Seroquel and Clozaril, which are not approved for use in children. Read more »
