Scientists from the University of Bochum in Germany have found that the flat facial expressions often seen in people with schizophrenia may harm their ability to have social interactions. According to a university press release, scientists using questionnaires and psychological tests found that schizophrenia patients' lack of facial expression during conversation appeared to interfere with the patients' ability to accurately imagine the thoughts, feelings, or intentions of another person.
