Adults whose mother or father suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) may experience signs of PTSD themselves, experts say. In a study of Holocaust survivors with PTSD, researchers found the children of these survivors often had biological signs of PTSD such as below-average levels of the stress hormone cortisol. This was especially true of people whose mothers had PTSD.
